Therapy is a worthwhile investment …

in you.

About Insurance (and why I don’t currently accept it)

The unfortunate reality is that the healthcare system in the U.S. is not designed to support access to mental health treatment. Insurance companies often impose limitations on session frequency, treatment duration, and diagnosis — this is frustrating as it puts control over our treatment goals and reasons for seeking therapy in the hands of the insurance companies, rather than with you and me.

What that means is that in order to access therapy, you have to invest in yourself. This is hard for many of us. But by opting out of insurance, we regain flexibility and power over your treatment plan.

I encourage you to call your insurance company and discuss your options for out-of-network reimbursement with them. I am more than happy to provide you with a superbill for potential reimbursement based on your insurance policy, and I can accept HSA payments.

My insurance policy is subject to change.

My Core Values

Authenticity

Authenticity means showing up, being genuine, and practicing nonjudgmental attention to the present moment with you.

Flexibility

I’m a believer that there are no inflexible people, just inflexible environments. As a result, I pride myself on my ability to be flexible with you in several aspects of our treatment plan.

Empathy

Dr. Brené Brown, patron saint of social workers, defines empathy as a choice, and a vulnerable one at that: in order to connect with you, I have to connect with something in myself that knows that feeling.

Self-Compassion

The research on self-compassion is clear: individuals who find their way into self-compassion experience better outcomes in therapy. That doesn’t mean self-compassion is easy, but that it is necessary.

Change

As a social worker, I believe that change and growth are accessible to everyone, right now, regardless of past experiences.

Alliance

I view the therapeutic relationship not as not a relationship between the healer and the wounded, but as a relationship between equals. I am not the expert on your life, but merely a facilitator to the healing resources already alive inside of you.
